Personal Property Penalty Schedule

as required by KSA 79-1422 and KSA 79-1427(a)

  • Filed March 15th thru April 15th – 5%
  • Filed April 16th thru May 17th – 10%
  • Filed May 18th thru June 15th – 15%
  • Filed June 16th thru July 15th – 20%
  • Filed July 16th thru March 15th of the following year – 25%
  • Filed after March 15th of the following year – 50%

To abate personal property, you are required to sign a document stating you have sold property.  A PDF of the required form is available here.  Please complete the form and submit it to the Appraiser’s Office.  If the document is not submitted before tax bills are generated in November, you will be required to provide documentation the property was sold (i.e. bill of sale, notarized affidavit, etc). Please be sure you get a bill of sale when selling any property.

Notice to Boat Owners

The County Appraiser will not prorate the value of a watercraft when the owner fails to notify the county of its sale within the statutory timeframe (on or before December 20th in the year of the sale). The watercraft will remain on the tax roll at its full market value for that tax year. (KSA 79-1701 & KSA 79-1702; KSA 79-306e)
