 November 10, 2008 Just when we think we've seen and heard it all with drug dealers and their tricks to try to get their drugs out to the public, along comes something new. There is a new type of crystal meth that looks like Strawberry Pop Rocks. The candy sizzles and pops in your mouth; it smells like strawberries; and it is being handed out in schoolyards to kids. Kids who ingest this stuff, thinking it is candy, are then being rushed to the hospital in dire condition. Please warn your children and keep your eyes and ears open. If you hear or see anything please call the Tips Hotline.

 November 3, 2008 The whitetail deer are approaching the peak of their rut. Deer and car accidents will continue to increase, so drivers are urged to be extra cautious. In addition, instances of spotlighting and poaching will increase. If you notice spotlighting activity or unusual traffic on rural roads in your area, please call so we can check it out.

 October 27, 2008 Once again there have been several reports taken of material and fuel being taken from equipment and buildings on the construction sites along U. S. Highway 69.

 October 20, 2008 Over the past several weeks there have been several thefts of metal reported across Linn County. Large electrical cables, copper plumbing pipe, brass fittings, and air conditioners have been stolen from vacation properties and other locations.

 October 13, 2008 In the early part of September the restrooms on the north side of the lake at the La Cygne power plant were damaged. Windows were broken, door frames were damaged, and metal toilets were ripped out of the concrete floor.

 September 29, 2008 Sometime during the night of September 15 or the early morning of September 16 a 1998 Dodge dually truck was taken from the parking area of the PDQ store near Prescott. The vehicle was taken to Bates County, property was removed from the truck, and the truck was abandoned in a ditch.

 September 22, 2008 On Friday evening, September 12th, someone did damage to the entryway of property at 21877 East 152 Highway. Several boards were broken and some rock pillars were moved.

 September 15, 2008 A house on 1350 road west of Centerville was burglarized. The theft was discovered Sunday, Sept. 7th. Entry was gained by removal of an air conditioner unit. Items taken included two air conditioner units, electrical equipment, power tools, lumber, clothing, jewelry, and frozen meat.

 September 2, 2008 Sometime during the night of Saturday, September 6th, someone drove through a fence at 600 Ungeheuer Road. Approximately 60 feet of fence and a gate were damaged.

 August 26, 2008 Over the past several weeks there have been several thefts of metal reported across Linn County. Large electrical cables, copper plumbing pipe, brass fittings, and air conditioners have been stolen from vacation properties and other locations.  August 19, 2008 Early Sunday morning, August 17, the clubhouse at Sugar Valley Lakes was burglarized. There was extensive criminal to the building. It has not been determined what was taken from the building.

 August 5, 2008 On July 16th a 16-foot flatbed trailer was reported stolen from 21060 East 1350 Road, just east of the railroad crossing. The trailer has a black frame and gray fenders. There is a winch on the front of the trailer, a the right rear taillight is broken.

 July 28, 2008 Late Saturday night, July 19, or early Sunday, July 20, Casey's General Store in Mound City was burglarized. Cigarettes and other items were taken.

 July 14, 2008 On Friday, July 11th, two tires were slashed on a truck east of Prescott on Highway 239. The owner heard dogs barking before dawn, which might have been the time that the crime was committed.

 July 7, 2008 On Saturday night, July 5th, seven large political signs were vandalized with spray paint in various areas of the county. The damage started in Blue Mound, then east to Prescott, then north to Highway 152, then west across the north side of the county. It was necessary to remove and clean the signs due to the nature of the paintings.

 June 23, 2008 Officers are looking for two 4-wheelers taken from different locations in the county. A 1999 Honda 4-wheeler was taken in March from a hunting club location on the north side of the county, near the Linn/Miami county line. A 2006 model Honda 4-wheeler was taken recently in a burglary in the Centerville area. Shop equipment, a Dewalt shop saw and a Milwaukee one-half inch drill were also taken in the recent burglary.

 June 9, 2008 Sometime during the afternoon or evening of Saturday, May 31, a house in Blue Mound was burglarized. Several guns were stolen along with two safes - one large and one smaller one. The larger safe has "Shine on" written on it in yellow lettering. Also taken were a portable generator, a large coin collection, and many collectable bills.

 June 2, 2008 One year ago two large tractors were burned and destroyed in rural Prescott on Wattles Road. This is still an open, active case. The Sheriff's Department and the Kansas fire Marshall's Office would be in interested in any additional information out there.  May 27, 2008 On Tuesday, May 20, someone stole fuel from a tractor and took two air conditioners from a garage at a house on Park Street in Pleasanton. The suspect car was a mid to late 80s blue vehicle with some faded paint areas. If you have seen a car like this or have any other information please call the hotline.

 May 19, 2008 During the past 10 days more than six residences at Linn Valley Lakes have had windows and doors broken and damaged. In some cases entry was made to the residences.

 May 12, 2008 Sometime during the last week of April someone attempted to gain entry to the tack area of a horse trailer that was parked on Lee Road just south of Highway 52. the attempt was not successful, however the door of the trailer was damaged.

 April 28, 2008 Shortly after midnight on Monday morning, April 28, three windows were broken at the Justus Medical Clinic in Pleasanton in an apparent attempt to gain entry to the building. It appears no entry was made.

 April 21, 2008 Sometime between midnight Friday and Saturday morning the tires on two vehicles were cut at a residence in the north part of Centerville. The victim reported that all tires were okay shortly after midnight, but were found flat on Saturday morning.

 April 14, 2008 On or about Tuesday, March 25th, two Pleasanton Police Department Vehicles were broken into, with damage to paint, doors, and door frames.

 April 7, 2008 On Saturday, March 29th, a Chevrolet pickup truck was stolen from the One Stop station in Parker. The truck was taken sometime before 10:00 p.m. and was recovered the next morning. The truck was extensively damaged. Several items had been stolen from the truck, including a .22 caliber revolver.

 March 31, 2008 On Sunday, March 30th, between 8:00 and 8:30 p.m. someone cut the sidewalls of the tires on two vehicles. The vehicles were located in Lake Chaparral on Holiday Drive.

 March 24, 2008 The Sheriff's Department continues to receive reports of equipment being stolen or fooled with at the construction sites along U.S. Highway 69. Anyone with information that might help solve and stop these crimes is asked to call the hotline.

 March 10, 2008 It appears the persons involved in the home break-ins across several counties in this area have been caught. While we can feel a little safer please don't drop your guard. Stay alert and secure your doors, cars and equipment. Neighbors watching after neighbors is what Crime Stoppers and the Neighborhood Watch programs are all about. If something doesn't look right call the hotline at the number below. We would rather check out a report and find nothing than to have to work a case later because someone didn't call.

 March 3, 2008 On Saturday night, March 1, someone drug a log onto Showalter Road knocking over four mailboxes and damaging a bridge. A vehicle hit the log during the early hours Sunday doing extensive damage to the vehicle.

 February 11, 2008 An aluminum tool box containing hand tools was removed from a truck parked in a garage on West Main Street in Prescott. The theft happened Saturday night or Sunday morning (February 9-10.)

 January 28, 2008 A house in Parker has been burglarized. Thieves took copper wire, copper pipe, plumbing fittings, a water heater, and an electrical fuse box. A blue Chevrolet Cavalier was seen at the house.

 January 21, 2008 Crime Stoppers and the Sheriff's Department are in need of information concerning the criminal damage done to two vehicles. One vehicle was damaged in rural Parker and one in the town of Parker.

 January 14, 2008 Crime Stoppers and the Sheriff's Department are still in need of information on the gun thefts reported recently in the Prescott area. While some arrests have been made and all of the guns have been recovered, the investigation is continuing. Linn County officers and federal authorities would like to track down the rest of the gang involved in the thefts.

 December 17, 2007 On Wednesday night, December 12th, the locks were cut from two construction trailers parked just north of the 100 mile marker on US Highway 69, where the two-lane road widens to four lanes. The trailers are parked on the east side of the highway.

 December 10, 2007 Sometime before Sunday, December 2, an all-terrain vehicle was stolen from a barn at 11382 Arthur Road near Centerville. The 4x4 Kawasaki Mule was red in color.

 December 3, 2007 Two businesses located in Pleasanton were broken into early Friday morning, November 30th. Both businesses are located on Main Street in Pleasanton. Considerable money was taken from both locations, and the properties were damaged during entry.

 November 19, 2007 On Friday evening, November 9, between 7:00 and 10:30 p.m. thieves broke into a residence and garage located on a rural dead-end road near Prescott. The thieves took several guns, rings, necklaces, and some money. Among the guns taken were several Ruger rifles Model 77, a Ruger 20 gauge Red Label over and under shotgun, Remington 870 shotguns, Remington rifles, and some Rossi pump 22 rifles (a copy of the Winchester Model 62.)

 November 5, 2007 Over the weekend of October 20-21 thieves hit a construction site just south of 1000 Road on Highway 1077. Tool sheds and tool boxes on trucks and trailers were broken into. A large number of power tools and power cords were taken, along with other work items.

 October 22, 2007 On Sunday night, October 20, thieves hit a construction site on County Highway 1077 just south of 1000 Road. Taken were a number of tools and material, including a Stihl chainsaw Model 180, table saw, mitersaw, Porter compressor, drills, nailer, air hoses, 1/2" sheeting sprayer, Craftsman 3/4" drive socket set, and several smaller items. The victims of the theft previously lost their home to the spring storms that passed through Linn County.

 October 9, 2007 Sometime on the evening of Thursday, September 20, between 7:30 and 10:00 p.m. the gate locks were broken to a farmstead just west of Highway 7 at about 2300 Road. Two barns were broken into and a gun safe was cut open. Items taken include a Browning over/under 12 gauge, a Beretta over/under 20 gauge, a Benelli 12 gauge pump shotgun, a Benelli 20 gauge, a Remington 20 gauge 870 pump youth model, and a Remington model 788 30/30 carbine with a scope. Also taken were a Dewalt saw, a Dewalt drill, a Dewalt sawzall, a Dewalt 18 volt hammer driver, a light with charger, and a full 5-gallon gasoline can.

 October 1, 2007 There have been reports from all areas of Linn County of thefts of metal and copper, both old and new. With the increased prices being paid for scrap metal, vandals are taking anything they can get their hands on to sell. This month the chains were beaten off the posts at Fisher Cemetery and taken by thieves.

 September 10, 2007 A weekend home was burglarized sometime between September 2-8. The home is located south of the power plant on Yancy Road. A John Deere safe was stolen along with several guns: a Ruger 243 with scope, a Winchester 30.06 with scope, and a 12 gauge pump shotgun. Also taken were a Browning compound bow with arrows, a John Deere Gator vehicle, a weed eater, a John Deere mower, a welder, hunting and fishing clothes, a microwave oven and several rolls of barbed wire.

 September 3, 2007 Several lake lot owners arriving for the Labor Day weekend found that the electrical power cables supplying their campers had been cut and removed, apparently by thieves wanting the copper in the cables. Cables between campers and power poles were removed.

 August 27, 2007 On Wednesday, August 22, a home was broken into on 1650 Road, west of Boicourt. Items taken include camouflage hunting clothes and several sets of deer antlers with skulls. The antlers are large, in the 140-160 inch class. Vehicles of interest are a Suzuki (Samurai type), a Chevrolet S-10 truck, and a Dodge Dakota truck, light blue in color. One person of interest, in the S-10 truck, is a 30-40 year old male with dark hair. A young female with brunette hair was driving the Dodge Dakota.  August 20, 2007 During the first 10 days of July a farmstead northwest of Pleasanton was hit by thieves while the owner was away. Items taken include a Grasshopper lawnmower model 721-D, a Lincoln welder/generator, a weed eater, a Toro walk-behind tiller, and several small hand tools.

 August 13, 2007 More criminal damage has been reported to crop fields in the county. It appears the damage was done sometime in the week of August 6-12. Two fields were damaged, one north of Pleasanton on 1350 Road and the other in the Prescott area on 400 Road. In both cases it appears a 4-wheel drive pickup truck was driven in circles in the fields. The tire tread appears to be the same in both cases. In the field near Prescott a GMC emblem was torn off the grill and left at the scene. In that case we're looking for a late model GMC 4-wheel drive truck.

 August 6, 2007  On the night of July 11 or the morning of July 12 three ATVs were stolen from the Marsh Madness Hunting Club, located on Queens Road near La Cygne. The items taken were a Polaris 2000 Magnum, a Polaris 2005, and a Polaris 2005 6x6.

 July 30, 2007 Sometime Friday night or early Saturday morning (July 27-28) vandals drove a 4-wheel drive vehicle through a corn field east of Prescott on 500 Road near the state line.

 July 23, 2007 On the night of July 11 or the morning of July 12 three ATVs were stolen from the Marsh Madness Hunting Club, located on Queens Road near La Cygne. The items taken were a Polaris 2000 Magnum, a Polaris 2005, and a Polaris 2005 6x6.

 July 16, 2007 Sometime between Saturday and Monday, July 7-9, a combine was damaged in the Prescott area. This is the second time in two weeks that large equipment in this area has been attacked.

 July 9, 2007 On Saturday night, June 1, two young boys were throwing rocks at vehicles driving through Prescott on Highway 239. They also threw rocks at a house on Main Street, breaking at least one window. The property owner chased them but lost sight of them between houses north of First Street and West Main Street.

 June 25, 2007 Between 1:00 a.m. and 3:00 a.m. on June 20th a 2003 Yamaha 4-wheeler was stolen from the yard of a home located on Highway 7 south of Mound City.

 June 18, 2007 Vandals hit the northwest part of Linn County Saturday night. More than a dozen mailboxes were damaged or destroyed. Vandals also destroyed newly-planted fruit trees at a home on 2200 road.

 June 4, 2007 Sometime after 6:00 p.m. on May 25th welding leads were stolen from a welding truck located on 2100 Road near LaCygne.

 May 28, 2007 On May 14 the Sheriff's Department received information from a resident on State Line Road that residential telephone lines had been disconnected three times in a five-day period. They also reported that brake lights on a vehicle had been disconnected, and that other damage had been done to the vehicle.

 May21, 2007 A car theft spree began in the Liberty, Missouri area and moved through Linn County recently. A car stolen in Liberty was used to get the thief to Showalter Road where they took a pickup truck. That truck got stuck in the low maintenance road north of Showalter Road. The thief then took a Jeep from a residence on Roberson Road. Credit cards that had been left in that Jeep were used in Nevada.

 May 7, 2007 Recently there has been a string of thefts and burglaries in Centerville and the surrounding area. The Linn County Sheriff's Department believes there are two or three suspects and two vehicles involved. The suspects are two white males and a female. The suspect vehicles are a 1997 white Chevrolet truck with a silver tool box in the bed, and a gold van that is possibly missing a hubcap.

 April 23, 2007 The northwest gate of Area A at the Wildlife and Parks Refuge was rammed and badly damaged recently. A personal tag from the vehicle, reading "Evil 1" was left at the scene. If you know who owns this tag, you might help in solving this criminal act.

 April 9, 2007 While this week's crime consists of two thefts, the largest loss is in criminal damage to property. The thefts are money taken from the concession stand at the Prescott ball field and the concession stand at Jayhawk Linn High School. Both buildings received extensive damage to doors and windows as the thieves gained entrance.

 March 26 - April 2, 2007 The ready-mix plant set up in the Linn County Industrial Park to provide concrete for the 4-lane highway improvements received extensive criminal damage sometime between March 9th and March 14th. The vandals ran water into the cement silo and put sugar in the fuel and engines of the high loaders. At the same time similar damage was done to the ready-mix plan in Neosho County. Additional reward money of $10,000 is being offered by the owners of the damaged property.

 March 19, 2007 Vandals attacked the rural water distribution machine at 1850 Road and Highway 1095 over the weekend March 3-4. Extensive damage was done to the building to get to the money box. An undetermined amount of money was taken.

 February 19-26, 2007 A theft was discovered Saturday, February 24, in the Linnville area. Items stolen include four firearms (a tube-feed .22 rifle, a clip-fed .22 rifle, a Marlin .30/.30 lever action rifle and a 20 gauge shotgun), a tool set, cordless drill, finish sander and orbital jigsaw.

 February 12, 2007 A burglary has been reported at a building east of Parker. The burglary occurred between January 1 and January 19. Stolen items include tools and a 1999 Yamaha Grizzly 4-wheeler.

 February 5, 2007  On Friday evening or Saturday morning someone took 50 pallets from Ag Choice in Blue Mound. If you have any information that might help solve this crime, or any other crime, please call the hotline.

 January 29, 2007 The Sheriff's Department has been receiving quite a few calls on animals, both livestock and smaller pets, being left without proper shelter, food and water in the cold winter weather. If you know of animals being treated this way please call the Crime Stopper's Hotline. The animals will be picked up and cared for, and the owners will be billed for the services.

 January 22, 2007 A large quantity of tools and home appliances were reported stolen January 18, 2007, from a house under construction. The home is located on 600 Road south of Pleasanton and west of U.S. Highway 69.

 January 8 & 15, 2007 During the week between Christmas and New Years Day a trailer was stolen from a farm south and east of Centerville. The trailer was built to transport a Bobcat.

 January 1, 2007 The theft of 150 feet of #4 copper wire has been reported. The report was received Friday, December 29. The theft is believed to have occurred between December 22nd and December 29th. The wire was stolen from property at 1000 Road and Underhill Road.

 December 25, 2006  In the past several weeks there have been reports of cemeteries across the county where tombstones have been broken and turned over. Among those damaged are the Parker Cemetery and Fisher Cemetery. Fisher Cemetery, located on Quinn Road between 1200 and 1300 roads, has been it twice. Families and friends of those who lie in rest in these cemeteries would like to see the damage stopped.

 December 18, 2006 On December 15th three thefts were reported in the area of East 1700 Road and State Line. This is the same area in which a house was entered as reported a week earlier. In the three recent thefts parts and tools were taken from a combine, and a 16-foot cattle gate was removed allowing cattle to get out.

 December 4, 2006 A resident of Trading Post reported the theft of a tractor blade. The blade is homemade, five feet wide and is attached to a tractor drawbar. If you have information that might help recover this stolen item please call the Crime Stopper's Hotline.

 November 27, 2006 Over the weekend of Nov. 18-19 a Smith & Wesson 9 mm pistol was stolen from a pickup truck in Linn County. The owner is unsure of the exact time and location of the theft. The gun's serial number is VCE25501. A reward will be paid if the pistol is located, with a larger reward offered if an arrest warrant is issued.

 November 27, 2006 On November 13th Beachner Construction reported the theft of a Caterpillar skid steer mounted on rubber tracks. It was a Model 267, serial number 267VCMP00778. The unit was stolen from the job site on U.S. Highway 69.

 November 13, 2006 Cool weather finally is here and the whitetail deer rut has kicked into full swing. Deer are moving everywhere and watching for cars is not what's on their minds. Drivers beware. Along with this come the road hunters and spotlighters. There are not enough game wardens nor sheriff's personnel to be in enough places at once, so we need everyone's help.  November 6, 2006 On Friday night, October 27th, the Rocking K Restaurant on US Highway 69 at the La Cygne exit was burglarized. The cash register, including cash from the day's receipts, was taken. Approximately $2,000 is missing, according to reports.  

 October 23, 2006 Additional reward money has been donated by outside parties to assist in locating the party or parties responsible for dumping nails in the driveways of firefighters in Pleasanton. This reward money will be added to the reward of up to $1,000 offered by Crime Stoppers. Tips that lead to an arrest are considered for rewards. There have been several reports of nails dumped in the driveways of Pleasanton Fire Department employees. Several bags of roofing nails have been gathered from the driveways. The show-up area of the Pleasanton Rural Fire Department has also been vandalized with nails. This situation is serious because it can affect the ability of emergency equipment to respond when needed, and because responders families are also endangered.

 October 16, 2006 Scrap metal prices, particularly those for copper, are up and continuing to climb. There are increasing reports of thefts of wire being taken from isolated trailers, buildings and other locations requiring electricity in Linn County.  October 9, 2006 With the price of scrap metal rising thefts are being reported all over the county. Sugar Valley residents have reported numerous thefts. A residence on 69 Highway north of Trading Post was hit twice last week.  September 18, 2006 The nice fall weather has started the deer moving and also the spotlighters. Some of these people are just looking at deer and wildlife, but others are there to steal that buck that you've been watching all year or for several years. If you see this activity going on call the Linn County Crime Stopper's Hotline number and the Sheriff's Department will be glad to check it out.

 August 28 and September 4, 2006 During the night of Wednesday, August 23rd, thieves broke into vending machines in three locations across the county. Since that date several other thefts from vending machine locations have been reported. The Prescott water distribution vendor, the water vendor at 1850 and 1095 roads, the water distribution vendor for Water District #3, a vending machine at the grocery store in Blue Mound, and vending machines at Linn County Park were hit. Thieves took only money from the machines.

 August 21, 2006 Several items have been reported stolen from a property south of La Cygne. The theft was discovered August 15th when a family member checked the location. Items taken include saddles, horse tack, a Kawasaki 4-wheeler, an air compressor and a Gravely mower model 992020. A trailer would have been required to move the larger items.

 August 14, 2006 A break-in has been reported at a cabin near Massacre Park. The incident was discovered July 28. Items taken include a browning Belgium A-5 Magnum 12 gauge shotgun, a Benelli 12 gauge pump shotgun, a Mossberg 12 gauge shotgun with red dot sight, a Martin model 336 30/30 rifle, a Ruger 22-250 rifle with synthetic stock and a scope, a new Cabela's camouflage hunting coat with tags still attached and a Coleman generator in like-new condition.

 July 24, 2006 A farmstead in the 4000 block of 1475 road was the target of thieves sometime between June 15 and June 21. A large number of tools and related items were taken. Items stolen included acetylene torches and regulator, chain saw, tap and die set, Skilsaw, paint gun, air impacts (both 1/2 and 1/4 inch), a vice, grinder and welding leads.

 July 17, 2006 Copper electrical cable and an air compressor were taken from a residence south of Prescott. The theft occurred over the weekend of July 1-2. If you have information that might help solve this crime, please call the Crime Stopper's Hotline number below.

 July 10, 2006 Nation Rock Company reported the theft of a trailer, a large assortment of tools, a generator, cutting torches, come-alongs, a grinder, pressure washer and other equipment. The property was entered by cutting locks and fencing on neighboring property. The theft happened sometime during the last two weeks of June.

 July 3, 2006 On Thursday, June 22, vandals damaged a car parked at the railroad bridge north of Boicourt. Rocks were thrown through the windows of the vehicle. If you noticed a suspicious vehicle in the area during that time, or if you have any information that might help solved this crime, please call the Crime Stopper's Hotline.

 June 19, 2006 Sometime between June 11 and June 14, a thief or thieves hit a farmstead about halfway between Blue Mound and Mound City on Highway 31. Fuel was stolen from farm vehicles. Besides fuel, the thieves took a CB radio, four chainsaws, a Craftsman tool box and tools, a battery charger and fuel cans.

 June 12, 2006 Burglars hit the water treatment plant that is under construction for PWWSD #13 sometime between Friday evening, June 9, and Monday morning, June 12. Gasoline and diesel fuel was taken. Several 5-gallon containers were taken. It is believed they were used to transport the gasoline. The quantity of diesel fuel stolen indicates that a large container was used. Copper pipe and copper fittings were also taken.

 June 5, 2006 Thieves hit construction trailers parked at a residence on 300 road in the southern part of Linn County. The incident occurred late Wednesday, May 31, or early Thursday, June 1. Small power tools were taken. Thieves left the larger tools alone.

 May 29, 2006 A residence in Parker was burglarized the evening of May 19. Cash, checks and personal identification items were taken from the residence. Checks were written in the Paola area.

 May 22, 2006 On Thursday, May 18, a construction trailer was burglarized. Equipment stolen included a Stihl chop saw TS400, Stihl chainsaw with case, gas posthole auger, Dial-A-Grade pipe laser and a David White transit.

 May 15, 2006 Another weekend-residence at Tanglewood Lake was burglarized, property stolen and the residence damaged. This break-in adds to a long list of properties being hit in this area. This last break-in happened between the last weekend of April and May 5th. If your tip helps solves this crime and leads to an arrest, you could receive a reward of up to $1,000.

 May 8, 2006 Last weekend another residence at Tanglewood Lake was burglarized. Property was stolen and the residence was damaged.  April 30, 2006 On Monday, April 10, a home and an adjoining shed were burglarized at 22638 1077 Lane, Parker. A television, VCR and DVD equipment,tools and engine overhaul items were taken.

 April 23, 2006 Sometime during the evening or night hours of Tuesday, April 11, two trailers and a house were burglarized at Tanglewood Lakes. A large number of air tools, an air compressor, other tools and a new furnace were taken.

 April 17, 2006 Three tires were slashed on a vehicle at a residence on the west side of Parker. The incident happened around 11:00 p.m. Saturday. The vehicles were parked in front of the victim's house.

 April 3, 2006 A popup camper and related gear that were stored over the winter at Sugar Valley Lake have been reported stolen. The theft was discovered April 1, when the owners made their first trip to the lake for the season. The camper was a Coleman 1998 Redwood model 10-ft. popup.

 March 27, 2006 Mailboxes in the southwest corner of Linn County have again become the targets of vandals. Along a stretch of 800 Road beginning at the Linn/Anderson County line every mailbox that was the near the road was wrecked.  March 20, 2006 A few weeks ago we asked for help in finding the individuals who are providing drugs and alcohol for the minors in our area. The request netted several phone calls and letters. Last week the county had a couple of bad accidents , and in at least one case the afterthoughts were "we saw that car doing this or that which was just asking for a wreck." If only one person would have picked up their phone and called the Crime Stoppers TIPS Hotline there might have been a complete change in events.

 March 13, 2006 On Thursday night, March 9, a Caterpillar Skid Loader (model 267B, serial number pdT01468) was stolen one mile west of Highway 69 on 1700 Road. The machine had just been moved up the road to be loaded out the next day, however thieves hit first. The loader had a toothed bucked attached (serial number SBP046547.)

 March 6, 2006 Over the weekend of February 25-26 two one-week-old Hereford calves were stolen just north of Trading Post on 1700 Road (west of Highway 69.)

 February 27, 2006 There has been an increasing number of minors stopped with alcohol in their possession in Linn County. We are asking for your help in finding the people responsible for buying alcohol for minors.  February 20, 2006 An equipment trailer parked at the junction of Highway 69 and Highway 52 was broken into over the weekend of February 18-19. The trailer was locked Friday evening, and the lock was found cut Monday morning. A saw, propane heater and generator were taken.

 February 13, 2006 A burglary was committed on February 5 at an unoccupied building on West 1350 Road near Centerville. A Stihl chop saw, chain saw and Honda air compressor were stolen.

 February 6, 2006 On Friday, January 20th, a Dodge Dakota pickup truck was set on fire while the owner was inside an adjacent building. The owner had earlier seen an older black Chevrolet pickup truck with headache rack and toolbox at the building. The driver was a heavy-set white male. The passenger was a while male, approximately 5'10" with a red goatee. The two men fled the area when the victim arrived.

The businesses include A&J Car Wash, Mound City coin-operated water supply station at City Hall, Mound City Methodist Church and the USDA/USCS offices. Money was taken from the coin boxes at the car wash and city water station. Office and computer equipment were taken from the USDA/USCS offices.

 January 16, 2006 Over the weekend of January 7-9, a welding rig and related equipment were stolen from a work site at 1095 Road and Highway K-152. The rig is a Miller Trail Blazer Portable Welder. The leads, disconnects and other items were taken with the welding rig. Other welding equipment has also been reported missing in the Blue Mound area.

 December 26, 2005 The Sugar Creek Duck Club club house, located on Snyder Road, was burglarized sometime Friday night and Saturday (December 9-10.) Bolt cutters were used to remove the lock on the storage room door. Water lines froze and broke, causing extensive property damage. Several items of hunting equipment were taken.

 December 19, 2005 A small farmhouse used as a hunting cabin, located south and west of La Cygne, was broken into sometime between November 13 and the start of Kansas deer season. Over a dozen sets of deer antlers were stolen and criminal damage was caused to the structure by the forced entry.

 December 5, 2005 During the day on Monday, November 28th, a truck parked at Public Hunting Area F of the Marais de Cygne Wildlife Area was burglarized. A window was broken out of the truck and several hunting items were stolen. Items taken included a Panasonic camera and accessories, a Darton bow with case and equipment, Nikon binoculars, Cabela's range finder, game calls, arrows, a buck knife and other miscellaneous hunting items.

 November 28, 2005 Kansas Firearms Deer Season opens November 30. Road hunting and spotlighting have already started. Fish & Game officers and Sheriff's Department deputies cannot be everywhere, so we need your eyes and ears. If you see poachers firing from vehicles, or spotlighting, please get vehicle descriptions and license tag numbers if possible and call the Tips Hotline. Poaching is stealing, and it presents the danger of someone getting shot, or cattle and other livestock being hit.

 November 21, 2005 With the arrival of Thanksgiving comes the start of the holiday season. Along with the good times come break-ins, as people start their Christmas shopping. Please watch your neighborhood areas for unusual or abnormal activity and report anything that you see immediately. The Sheriff's Department would much rather make an unneeded run than take a report after a burglary has been committed.

 November 14, 2005 The windows were broken out of a Pontiac Grand Am that was parked at Highway 7 and 300 Road recently.

 November 7, 2005 Over the last 6-8 weeks there have been several break-ins from Prescott to Linn Valley along the eastern part of Linn County. Mostly cabins and homes where people are away for periods of time have been targeted. Hunting equipment, movies and VCRs have been taken, while a bag with money was left laying. We need the help of your eyes and ears to get information to solve this wave of burglaries.  October 31, 2005 A hunting cabin just off Wattles Road east of Pleasanton was broken into between October 15th and October 22nd. A number of fishing tackle items, movies and household items were taken. The sliding glass door was destroyed.

 October 24, 2005 A hunting cabin located on 2000 Road, south of La Cygne, was recently broken into. Several paintball guns and equipment were taken, along with two hunting-type motion cameras.

 October 17, 2005 Over the past several months, road signs in several Linn County locations have been destroyed by vandals. In addition to costing the county several thousand dollars, the destroyed signs could result in the loss of lives. Road signs are posted for the purpose of warning drivers and saving lives. An additional reward of $500 has been added for information in this particular case.

 October 10, 2005 During the night of Wednesday, September 28, several mailboxes were damaged or destroyed on 900 Road south and east of Pleasanton. It appeared that the boxes were beat with a ball bat or similar object.

 October 3, 2005 On Monday, September 26th, a Sears lawn tractor was stolen from a location on Montgomery Road, south of Mound City. The tractor and mower deck are green in color.

 September 26, 2005 Sometime after September 5 a boat, motor and fishing equipment were stolen from lake property at Sugar Valley. The boat is a Bantam Bass boat with trolling motor attached. Several fishing poles and life jackets were in the boat. All items were on a boat trailer parked on plat 36 lot 30 of Sugar Valley.

 September 12, 2005 Over Labor Day weekend three saddles and tack were stolen from a barn in rural Blue Mound. One is a Circle Y roping saddle, light tan with leather stirrups and a 16" seat. The second saddle is also a Circle Y, tan with leather stirrups. The third is a dark brown leather roping saddle with extra-wide stirrups and a 17" seat.

 August 22, 2005 A 16-foot flatbed trailer was stolen from a residence at 14774 1077 Road near Centerville. The trailer was taken Saturday or early Sunday morning (Aug. 20-21.) The trailer is blue in color, and is made by Rolls Custom Trailers, serial number 1700.

 August 8 & 15, 2005 On July 31, from midnight to early morning of August 1, eight to possibly a dozen cars received criminal damage to their exteriors with what appears to be a knife. All the cars were in an area between 6th and 7th Streets from Walnut to Grandview in La Cygne.

 August 1, 2005 The reconstructed Trading Post building at the old Indian Mission, located on 1525 Road near Centerville, received major damage to the roof and shingles when 25-30 bullets were fired through the ceiling. This damage was done sometime in the middle of July, from the 15th to the 28th.

 July 18, 2005 Once again Crime Stoppers is asking for your help so the Sheriff's Department can stop mailbox damage. On Friday night, mailboxes on Wall Street from Jackson to Massey were beat with a club or ball bat.

 July 11, 2005 A home located on 800 Road close to the Missouri State line was broken into, with several guns and CDs stolen. Guns taken were two Marlin bolt action, one a .22 Mag and the other .22 Long Rifle; a Remington 870 Wing Master 12 ga.; and a Thompson Center .50 caliber muzzleloader. The CDs were mostly country music.
